11 Tips On How To Keep Your Skin Healthy and Clean

Skin is a vital component of your body. It plays many roles among them excreting toxic substances together with sweat, regulating the internal body temperature, protecting the fragile internal body parts from the harmful effects of sun and radiations, and providing mechanical support. For it to perform all these functions, you need to keep it clean and healthy. Here are the best eleven tips on how you can maintain and keep your skin clean and healthy:

1. Treat your skin in a gentle manner

At times it sounds funny how you can treat our vehicle, animals, clothing, and even our favorite flowers gently but then we forget one crucial thing in your body: the skin. The skin protects all the inner organs and, therefore, ‘it’s essential to keep it healthy and clean. During bathing, you should use warm water.  Remember hot water dries up the skin while cold water closes up the sweat pores. Always ensure when you wake up in the morning to take a bath; pillowcases and bedsheets absorb hairstyling product and other body creams which are then transferred to the skin. If not clear, these products block the sweat pores, thus reducing the release of toxin from the body through the pores.

 Before shaving, ensure that the skin is well lubricated by applying shaving oil or gel. Also, use a clean, sharp razor and when shaving always put in mind the direction of hair growth. Shaving should be done in the direction of hair growth.

 Avoid strong soaps that will strip off oil from your skin.

2. Eat a balanced diet

Times and days are gone when people ate to fill the stomach. You should balance your diet well for the skin to be healthy and clean. You should eat food contain a lot of fats for example avocadoes, sunflower seed, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, fatty fish and red or yellow pepper for the skin to look youthful as fatty acid are very important. To reduce wrinkles in your skin ensure you take a diet with enough vitamin C. Minimize sugary food since a lot of sugar in your body damages collagen and elastin in the skin, which causes wrinkles.

3. Do a lot of exercises

Exercising your body, it improves blood circulation and nutrients. As you exercise, toxins are also released from the body. This makes the skin to be supple. Exercises vary from simple ones like smiling, laughing a little bit to a complex one like weight lifting and running; thus, you don’t have a reason not to exercise, choose any that suits you.

4. Have Enough Rest

After a busy day, you should have enough time to sleep. It’s recommended having at least six to eight hours a day. The skin rejuvenates itself when you are sleeping. Therefore, never deny your body quality rest.

The presence of germs and bacteria contributes to skin problems like cold sores and acne. Proper hygiene is the only way to keep these germs and bacteria away from your skin. It is essential always to wash your hands, clothing, houses, and the environment in general.

6. Keep the skin moist always

Moist skin is protected from itchiness, chapping, and flakiness. Use of effective moisturizing cream with active ingredients keeps the skin moist. Also, drink a lot of water to keep the body hydrated always. Remember, when the body is dehydrated, the skin suffers most. It will look dull, flaky saggy, and loose.

7. Sun exposure time should be limited

The sun is the primary source of vitamin D that is very beneficial to our body skin. However, too much exposure damages the skin. Seek shade when the rays are intense. Too much exposure causes age spots wrinkles and other dangerous skin problems like skin cancer

8. Avoid smoking

Smoking contributes to wrinkles and also making the skin look older. It makes the blood vessel to be narrow. This decreases blood flow to the outer most layer of the skin, making it appear paler. Smoking also damages collagen and elastin; these are the fibers that give skin strength and elasticity. Last but not least, smoking increases the risk of cancer. 

Therefore to keep the skin looking healthy and young, I will advise that you avoid smoking.

9. Choice of body cream

Body creams also may have ingredients that are harmful to your skin. Always take time to research a better product.  Manufacturers are coming up with various body creams which some are safe to the skin while others are unsafe. Therefore have some time to know which are free from ingredients which will destroy your skin. Always remember as a consumer, you need to protect your skin otherwise, no any other person will protect it.

10. Cleanse the body

The air we inhale, the food we eat and water we drink builds up toxins in the body. This cause damages to your body; skin being part of your body is not an exception. It’s recommended, therefore, to detox like drinking a glass of water with squeezed lemon. This helps the body to be able to focus on energy production and eliminate the toxins from your body.

11. Stress management

Always engage in activities that relieve stress. This can be achieved through activities like making time for hobbies, interests, and relaxing, regular exercises, proper time management. High level of stress will compromise the health of your skin.
